NOTESWRITER
NotesWriter is an application that integrates the best features of web logs, blogs, and wikis. At this stage, it is more of a dream than a reality. It is the application that I would love to have for all sorts of tasks, ranging from keeping track of information I run across on the web to putting together documentation to managing tasks and projects.
What I have done is begin writing out the requirements. I started working on this project a couple of years ago, then a hiatus, and now I'm back to it.
The site has three parts:
- Notes: my web log of quotes, links, and pictures.
- NotesWriter: the ongoing requirements documentation.
- Background: work product from 2005.
The inspiration for the original work came from a now-defunct project called roWiki which Chabel.org kept alive as TigerWiki, but apparently they recently stopped work, too.
I have also been inspired by the OLPC project, particularly the mesh networking technology - it represents such a stunning advancement on the idea of individual control of computing resources. To that end, I have been working to integrate my ideas into the MikMik "Cooperation in Parallel" wiki project.
